The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to replace the two existing bridges over Big Creek on US-82 near Sam Sutton Road in Coker with a single, wider bridge.
Additionally, the Sam Sutton Road intersection will be permanently closed to accommodate the new bridge.
The project is scheduled to begin Monday, May 12 and will continue until early 2027, weather permitting. At least one lane on US-82 will remain open in each direction throughout the project.
Ikaros was awarded the project at $9.9 million.
Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
