The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to resurface, install guardrail and place new traffic striping on a portion of US-43 in northern Tuscaloosa County from near Northside Road to the Fayette County line to improve mobility and safety.

The 8.5-mile project is expected to begin Wednesday, April 3 and will continue until late summer 2024, weather permitting.

A pilot car will guide traffic through the work zone. Lane closures will not be allowed from 6 a.m. through 9 a.m. Additionally, lane closures will not be allowed from 2 p.m. through 6 p.m. when work is required near the school to reduce the impact on traffic.

S.T. Bunn Construction Company was awarded the project at $3.52 million.

Motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
