The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to perform a nighttime painting project on the Third Avenue East bridge over I-20/59 in Tuscaloosa.
The bridge painting, which is intended to prevent corrosion and rust, is expected to begin Thursday, August 8 and will continue for approximately five weeks, weather permitting.
The contractor is only allowed to close the center and right lanes between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to reduce the impact on traffic. Additionally, lane closures will not be allowed on weekends when the University of Alabama has a home football game.
Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
