Precision and Skill on Display: ALDOT Troy and Montgomery Area ROADeo Winners Announced

Each year, skilled heavy equipment operators from the Alabama Department of Transportation come together to showcase their expertise in the annual ROADeo competition.

This event highlights precision, control, and mastery across a range of machinery, including the Single-Axle Dump Truck, Tandem-Axle Dump Truck, Backhoe, Motor Grader, Skid Steer, Lowboy, and Tractor.

Competitors face a series of demanding challenges, from parallel parking and tight cone navigation to the unique “golf ball with a spoon” test and complex obstacle courses.

The following individuals emerged as the top performers in their respective categories at the Troy and Montgomery Area ROADeos in the Southeast Region.

Single- Axle Dump Truck

  • Shawn Burton- Troy Area, District 73
  • Joseph Matthews- Montgomery Area, District 63

Tandem-Axle Dump Truck

  • Ledon Adams- Troy Area, District 75
  • Alexander Hampton- Montgomery Area, District 63

Backhoe

  • Ranaldo Crittenden- Troy Area, District 73
  • Austin Register- Montgomery Area, District 64

Motor Grader

  • Tim Hatler- Troy Area, Area wide

Skid Steer
