Upcoming I-59/20 widening in 2027

These improvements are a precursor to a larger plan to widen this stretch of I-59/20 in 2027.

On May 26, ALDOT announced it was seeking public comment on those improvements. The public has until June 26, 2026, to chime in on the proposal.

The widening project should be awarded to a contractor by Fall of 2027, with construction lasting two years.

As always, ALDOT wants to thank the community for their patience with any inconveniences necessary to complete this commuting upgrade.
