ALDOT pauses Dauphin Island Bridge lane closures ahead of Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo

Dauphin Island Bridge Lane Closures Update
Jul 13, 2026

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will temporarily pause construction-related lane closures on the Dauphin Island Bridge (SR-193) through July 22. This will help keep traffic moving during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

The pause will accommodate the expected increase in traffic before, during and after the Dauphin Island Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, scheduled for July 17-19.

The bridge rehabilitation project, which began earlier this year, includes repairs and corrosion mitigation work designed to extend the life of the 3.45-mile-long bridge. Daily lane closures will resume after July 22 as work continues.

What motorists should know:

  • Construction lane closures are suspended through July 22.
  • Travelers should still use caution and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
  • Normal construction operations and lane closures will resume after the temporary pause.

ALDOT wishes the best of luck to all the anglers competing in this year’s rodeo and hopes everyone traveling to and from Dauphin Island has a safe and enjoyable visit.
