Work continues to upgrade driving conditions on SR-46 in Cleburne County. The ten-mile project stretches from CR-620 to the Georgia state line.

The new configuration includes lane reductions, dedicated turn lanes, guardrail and resurfacing.

Through Ranburne, the former four-lane configuration has been converted into two wider travel lanes with a center turn lane.

The overall project is about a third complete. That progress includes completing the milling of tie-ins, patch work, and placing the scrub seal on the entire project.

Additional work remaining to complete the project includes widening and finishing the wearing surface from Ranburne to the Georgia state line.

Motorists should expect daily lane closures for additional paving.

Weather permitting, the project should be completed by early 2027.
