The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is launching a resurfacing and access management project on US-31 in Homewood.
The 2.4-mile job stretches from US-31 at Shades Crest Road in Vestavia Hills north to Ventura Avenue in Homewood.

The work is set to begin on Sunday, September 13. Motorists should expect single lane closures nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The initial portion of the work will be primarily confined to the downtown Homewood area from Old Montgomery Highway to 28th Avenue.
Once the weather is favorable, the resurfacing portion of the project will begin.

The entire project includes concrete work in the median, grading and base work for new widened areas, traffic signal improvement and resurfacing on US-31 from Shades Crest Road to Ventura Avenue.
The contractor should wrap up the project by June 2027.
