An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) project to increase safety at the intersection of US-84 and SR-141 in Coffee County begins Monday, Oct. 12, weather permitting.

The project, presented to the public online through July 2025, includes limiting left turns by converting the intersection into an RCUT to reduce the number of conflict points that often lead to serious injury or fatality.

The contractor began installing signs in preparation for the project Wednesday, Oct. 7.

ALDOT urges drivers to obey the posted speed limit and be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.

Motorists should plan accordingly for delays from possible lane closures.

Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., based in Dothan, won the $1.2 million contract by submitting the lowest bid meeting project requirements. The company expects to complete the project in spring 2027.
