The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will begin the first round of storm debris cleanup along state-maintained roads on Monday, Oct. 19.
The initial round of pickup will take place in four counties: Conecuh, Escambia, Monroe and Wilcox.
Residents should place eligible storm debris along the public right-of-way as soon as possible before the Oct. 19 start date.
Contractors will begin in areas with storm damage along U.S. and state highways where crews can safely work.
What debris will be collected?
- Vegetation debris, such as tree limbs and branches, left by Hurricane Isaias.
- Debris must be within the public right-of-way, the area between the road and the property line. This may include ditches, sidewalks and areas near utility poles.
- Debris from private property will not be collected.
ALDOT urges residents to use caution, as storm-related hazards may remain.
