Local road projects in Alabama receive $7.6 Million

Governor Kay Ivey today announced more than $7.6 million in funding for local road projects in Alabama, supporting 26 transportation improvement projects across the state. The Alabama Department of Transportation administers the funding through its Annual Grant Program established under the Rebuild Alabama Act.

SR-63 near US-280 in Alexander City has been closed for a bridge replacement since May 2025.

ALDOT is hopeful SR-63 could reopen by early July following a bridge replacement just south of US-280 in Alexander City.

Closed since May 2025, engineers are hoping to reopen the 1,600-foot section of SR-63 by July 4, if weather conditions allow.

ALDOT will hold in-person and online public involvement meetings to gather input on potential improvements to SR-35 in Fort Payne.

An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) resurfacing project on I-85 in Montgomery begins Sunday, May 10, weather permitting. 

The project includes resurfacing and traffic striping on I-85 from Ann Street (Exit 3) to Eastern Boulevard (Exit 6).
