Contractor Miller & Miller poured concrete for the deck of the new bridge on SR-243 over Cedar Creek in Franklin County last week.

Construction of the new bridge on SR-243 at Cedar Creek in Franklin County is progressing.

Proposed safety improvements include restricting left turns from Brock Road to US-72 eastbound and installing a U-turn lane west of at Madison County High School to replace that movement.

New inside lanes are now open to traffic on I-65 near Calera (Exit 231).

The work to widen an additional eight-mile stretch of I-65 in Shelby County has reached another milestone.

Monday and Tuesday, ALDOT shifted traffic onto 1.5 miles of newly constructed inside lanes in both directions between US-31 in Calera (Exit 231) and CR-87 (Exit 234).

The repaired sinkhole near SR-101 north of Lexington in Lauderdale County.

ALDOT repaired a large sinkhole beside SR-101 north of Lexington in Lauderdale County last week.

The sinkhole measured more than 20 feet deep and appeared to enter a cave or tunnel.

On Thursday, March 12, ALDOT maintenance personnel filled the sinkhole with 22 tons of stone and capped it with nine cubic yards of concrete.

The project installed 72 new signs on I-65, mainly in Morgan and Limestone counties.

New signs installed on I-65 will help motorists find their way on about about 50 miles of the interstate.

The sign replacement project with contractor Superior Traffic Control replaced 72 signs from south of the Morgan County line in Cullman County to the state line in Limestone County at a cost of about $800,000.
