ALDOT brings official state Christmas tree from Fitzpatrick, Ala.

Each year, employees from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) cut down, haul, install and help decorate the official state Christmas tree that sits at the top of the Capitol steps facing Dexter Avenue in Montgomery.

Work to replace SR-150 bridge over Little Shades Creek in full swing

Construction to replace the SR-150 bridge over Little Shades Creek is making serious progress.

Work is underway to replace the Little Shades Creek bridge on SR-150 in Jefferson County.

The 58-foot span is located in Bessemer, just west of Hoover.

Built in 1953, it is now classified as functionally obsolete.

ALDOT is replacing the bridge over Little Shades Creek and widening SR-150 from Morgan Road to Shannon Road.

ALDOT to host a public involvement meeting in Helena

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will host a come-and-go style public involvement meeting to discuss a potential project on SR-261 (Helena Road) and CR-52 to include intersection improvements, widening and sidewalk upgrades.

The widening of SR-261 will accommodate a center turn lane from Roy Drive

Public involvement meeting for SR-167 proposed widening postponed

The public involvement meeting for the proposed SR-167 widening project from Salem Road to SR-51 in Enterprise is indefinitely postponed. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will notify the community when a new date is scheduled.

The first phase of the I-59 reconstruction project included closure of the northbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 239, but there are no interchanges within the segment to be reconstructed in the second phase.

ALDOT will convert US-431 at Buck Island Drive to an RCUT intersection in early 2026.

ALDOT will convert the intersection of US-431 and Buck Island Drive in Guntersville to a Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) intersection to improve safety.

ALDOT to resurface stretch of US-82 in western Tuscaloosa County

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to resurface and perform access management along a stretch of US-82 from near Echola Road to near Buhl Cut-off Road in western Tuscaloosa County to improve mobility and safety.
