The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is hosting an online public involvement meeting for a proposed bridge replacement project on SR-17 south of York in Sumter County.

Visitors can view project information, review maps and submit comments through Aug. 8. Construction is expected to begin in 2028.

The project proposes replacing the existing bridges over Alamuchee Creek and Toomsuba Creek with new bridges that meet current design standards. The new bridges will be constructed on the existing alignment. During construction, the roadway will be closed to through traffic, with a signed detour using US-80 and I-20/59.

The online public involvement meeting is intended to inform the public about the proposed project and gather input from those who use the route.
