The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has added intersection modifications to US-431 and SR-165 in Phenix City to the ongoing resurfacing project.

The resurfacing project on US-431 began in June and includes resurfacing, guardrail installation, and traffic striping on US-431 from Freeman Road to US-280.

The intersection modifications include:

  • Installation of an additional left turn lane from US-431 southbound onto SR-165,
  • Widening on SR-165 to accept the additional left turn lane traffic from US-431,
  • Installation of a right turn lane on US-431 northbound onto SR-165, and
  • Offsetting the left turns on US-431 onto Crosswinds Road to improve sight distance.

The project will have intermittent lane closures so drivers should plan accordingly for possible delays.

ALDOT urges drivers to drive the posted speed limit and be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.

The project was awarded to East Alabama Paving Company, Inc., out of Opelika, Ala. The project is expected to be completed Spring 2027.
