The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is launching a resurfacing project on SR-79 in Tarrant.
The 2.5-mile job stretches from the Five Mile Creek Bridge in Tarrant, north to Winewood Road near Center Point.

The work is set to begin on Sunday, July 26. Motorists should expect nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
The contractor should wrap up the resurfacing work by the end of this year.

This project is one of several current and future initiatives to upgrade the SR-79 driving surface:
- Resurface from Alabama Street to Five Mile Creek Bridge in 2025-2026
- Resurface from Five Mile Creek Bride to Old Bradford Road in late 2026 or early 2027
- Widening from Old Bradford Road north to Dunn Drive
