Motorists in Baldwin County should be aware that CR-87 at I-10 will remain closed through the first days of the 2026-2027 school year.
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) originally anticipated reopening CR-87 this week. However, construction delays will require the closure to remain in place Wednesday, August 12, through Friday, August 14.
ALDOT currently expects CR-87 to reopen to traffic on Monday, August 17.
The additional time is needed to complete several remaining construction activities, including:
- Concrete work at the bridge and roadway approaches.
- Installation of safety guardrail.
- Final pavement striping and other finishing work.
Motorists should continue to follow the posted detour and allow additional travel time when traveling in the area.

- Taylor Still Road
- Cowpen Creek Road
- Patterson Road
- Wilcox Road (CR-64)
- Linholm Road
