Contractors will soon begin two resurfacing projects near Guntersville in Marshall County.
Weather permitting, Vulcan Materials will start Monday, May 12, resurfacing about seven miles of US-431. The project extends from the north end of the Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Tennessee River in Guntersville to Cathedral Caverns Highway, south of Grant. The $6.8 million project includes paving with a high-friction surface treatment to help reduce spray and hydroplaning in wet conditions.

SR-79 resurfacing
Also this month, Rogers Group will start resurfacing more than 10 miles of SR-79 in Marshall County. The project extends from US-431 to the Jackson County line. A subcontractor recently installed signs for the project.

Motorists are advised to expect single-lane closures during daylight hours on both routes. ALDOT anticipates completion of both projects this fall.
