Daytime lane closures planned for US-72/Florence Boulevard widening

Grayson Carter and Son Contracting continues to construct additional lanes on US-72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County. During the next month, the contractor will implement single-lane closures during daytime.

Drivers should expect daytime lane closures on US-72/Florence Boulevard in Lauderdale County for the next month.

Grayson Carter and Son Contracting is widening about two miles of the corridor, from Indian Springs Drive to Sky Park Drive, just west of Shoal Creek, to six lanes.

The contractor will close single lanes in either direction daily, Monday, June 30, through late July or early August.

Times of day

To avoid impacts during peak travel hours, closures will generally take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. westbound and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. eastbound. Please anticipate delays and plan additional time for travel during these timeframes.

Funding for the $24 million project to construct additional lanes includes a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County as well as a combination of state and other federal funding.
