An Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) resurfacing project on SR-223 in Pike County begins Monday, July 28, weather permitting.
The project will take place on SR-223 from US-29 to the Bullock County line.
This project includes resurfacing, shoulder widening and traffic stripe.
Motorists should expect lane closures and reduced speed limits throughout the project. ALDOT urges drivers to plan accordingly and remain cautious around people and equipment in the work zone.
The approximately $3.4 million project was awarded to APAC-Alabama, Inc., out of Birmingham, who had the lowest bid that met the project requirements. The project is expected to be completed early 2026.
