ALDOT to host public involvement meeting in Greensboro

Hale County Resurfacing Map for Public Involvement
Aug 21

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will host a come-and-go style public meeting at Greensboro City Hall in Hale County to discuss a potential resurfacing project on SR-14 from west of Holbrook Place to SR-61.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees can view exhibits and speak with ALDOT representatives regarding the proposed project, which is intended to enhance traffic flow and safety.

The project will also include a road diet along a portion of the route. The existing four-lane section between Main Street and Tuscaloosa Street will be reconfigured into two travel lanes with a two-way center left turn lane.

Studies by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) show that a three-lane configuration can handle roughly the same traffic volume as a four-lane undivided road, often more smoothly.

Project maps and comment forms are also available online for those unable to attend.

Greensboro City Hall is located at 1101 Main Street, Greensboro, AL 36744.
