A dynamic message sign (DMS) will rise into the sky over I-565 westbound near the Triana Boulevard overpass in Huntsville on Thursday, September 25.
The DMS is the last major feature being installed as part of the $5.2 million I-565 advanced corridor management project.
The project so far added to the corridor two other DMS, 10 traffic cameras, and two stations for monitoring road and weather conditions, in addition to fiber optic cable and various communication devices.
Delayed DMS
A change to the originally planned location of this DMS required exploratory drilling and redesign of foundations, delaying its installation.
Foundations and uprights for the DMS are already in place.

Lane closures and roadblocks
Thursday, September 25, contractor Stansell Electric will implement lane closures from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. The closures will reduce I-565 westbound to one lane of traffic from near Oakwood Avenue to Triana Boulevard.
Expect two rolling roadblocks, each about 30 minutes in duration, while a crane lifts the overhead structure and DMS into position. During the roadblocks, the contractor will close the on-ramps to I-565 westbound at Oakwood Avenue, Washington Street and US-231/US-431/Memorial Parkway. State troopers will assist with traffic control.
Additionally, the contractor will close the inside lane of I-565 eastbound from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.
