More than 150 high school students from Mobile and Baldwin counties gathered at Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette last week for the UrKeys2Drv Teen Driving Safety Summit.

The day brought together students, safety experts and first responders for interactive activities and hands-on lessons about safe driving.
Why events like this matter:
- Car crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teenagers.
- Alabama ranks fifth in the nation for teen traffic fatalities.
The summit’s goal was simple—equip young drivers with the tools and knowledge to make safer choices behind the wheel.

Highlights of the day included:
- Breakout sessions that showed the real-life consequences of risky driving.
- Opportunities for students to practice safe decision-making through interactive demonstrations.
- Conversations with first responders and safety experts who see the effects of dangerous driving every day.
The UrKeys2Drv summit is sponsored by State Farm and made possible through a partnership with Drive Safe Alabama, Children’s of Alabama, Safe Kids Alabama, the Alabama Department of Transportation, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the ASF Foundation, the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, the Lutzie 43 Foundation and local emergency medical services.
Together, these groups are working to keep Alabama teens safer on the road.
