Most drivers are familiar with Alabama’s Move Over Law and understand they must move over or slow down when approaching a stopped police car, fire truck or ambulance displaying emergency lights. What many may not realize is that the law extends far beyond emergency responders.

To rehabilitate the Tennessee River Bridges, the contractor, Cekra, first rigged scaffolding to access work areas.

Motorists should expect single-lane closures for rehabilitation work on the northbound I-65 Tennessee River Bridge each weekend in October, beginning this Friday.

The contractor will close the outside lane about 6 p.m. on Fridays and reopen it about 5 a.m. on Mondays.

During lane closures, northbound US-11/Gault Avenue through traffic will be detoured to First Street to Godfrey Avenue then to Fifth Street NE in Fort Payne.

A sidewalk improvement project on US-11/Gault Avenue in Fort Payne will start Monday, weather permitting.
