This project will reconstruct (pavement removal, grading, drainage, pavement and traffic stripe) the I-59 northbound roadway from north of US-11 in Fort Payne to north of SR-40/SR-117 in Hammondville.

I-59 northbound near Hammondville opens

An empty concrete roadway prior to being opened to traffic. Two-way traffic can be seen on the nearby southbound roadway.

A four-mile segment of reconstructed I-59 northbound in DeKalb County opened to traffic this morning. It includes the northbound Exit 231 ramps at SR-40/SR-117 in Hammondville.

Contractor A.G. Peltz Group replaced the old roadway with a new concrete roadway between milepost 229 and milepost 233.5. This concludes the first phase of a $40.8 million project…
