Resurfacing of SR-283 in Centre starts
SR-283 bifurcates at the old Cherokee County Courthouse, with one roadway on each side of the courthouse at its intersection with US-411.
Resurfacing of SR-283 in Centre in Cherokee County began this week.
The $725,566 project with contractor Wiregrass Construction will resurface SR-283 from US-411 to SR-9, about three-quarters of a mile.
For most of its short run, SR-283 is a five-lane highway, including a center turn lane.
