North Alabama resurfacing projects starting next week

Apr 05

Contractors are beginning work on several resurfacing projects in north Alabama in early April.

Three projects are slated to start April 8, weather permitting.

In Limestone County, Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will start a $2.2 million resurfacing of nearly six miles of US-72 from Shaw Road to York Lane, west of Athens.

In Lawrence County, contractor Rogers Group will begin a $2 million resurfacing of five miles of SR-20 from the Colbert County Line to CR-585, west of Courtland.

And in Cherokee County, Wiregrass Construction will start a nearly $1 million resurfacing of three miles of SR-35 from SR-273, north of Gaylesville, to the DeKalb County line.

Earlier this week in DeKalb County, Whitaker Contracting began a $1.6 million resurfacing of about seven miles of US-11 from the Etowah County line to Lykes Lane in Collinsville.

ALDOT advises motorists to expect delays due to single-lane closures within the work zones. Visit or download the ALGO Traffic app for real-time traffic and road condition information and to subscribe to personalized traveler alerts.
