The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to improve access management on US-84 from CR-709 to CR-1 in Level Plains.

The project, presented to the public in February 2025, includes limiting left turns by converting the intersections of CR-709 and CR-445 into an RCUT to reduce the number of conflict points that often lead to serious injury or fatality.

A traffic signal will also be installed at the intersection of CR-1 as part of the project.

The contractor began installing signs in preparation for the project on Nov. 20.

ALDOT urges drivers to obey the posted speed limit and be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.

Motorists should plan accordingly for delays from possible lane closures.

Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., based in Dothan, was awarded the $2.4 million contract by submitting the lowest bid meeting project requirements. The project is expected to be complete in Summer 2026.
