The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will host a come-and-go style public involvement meeting to discuss a potential project on SR-261 (Helena Road) and CR-52 to include intersection improvements, widening and sidewalk upgrades.
The widening of SR-261 will accommodate a center turn lane from Roy Drive
to CR-52 E.
Ther proposed project would widen CR-52E to make room for a through lane and add a right turn lane on southbound SR-261 at CR-52E.
There will also be a realignment of the existing sidewalk along the new western leg of the SR-261 interchange with CR-52.
Construction could begin by Spring 2027 and last up to a year.
The public involvement meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Helena City Hall in the City Council Chambers.
At this meeting, the public can ask questions and view project information and maps.
Helena City Hall is located at 816 Highway 52E in Helena, AL 35080.
The deadline for public comments about this project is on or before December 26, 2025.
