Work to install new signal upgrades at SR-69 and Sunset Drive in Guntersville will begin Thursday, Feb. 19, weather permitting.
The work will take just a few days. ALDOT anticipates little impact on traffic.
The planned signal upgrades include new poles, mast arms, signal heads, pedestrian
heads, detection devices and signal retiming.
The signal upgrades are the last major item in a $665,454 Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II (ATRIP-II) project. The project is locally sponsored by the City of Guntersville.
The project with contractor Rogers Group also included construction last year of pedestrian improvements and access management at the intersection near the Guntersville Boat Launch. Modifications included closing the old boat launch access on Sunset Drive and construction of a new access and southbound right turn lane on SR-69.
The Rebuild Alabama Act of 2019 created ATRIP-II to advance projects of local interest on state routes.
