The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) shifted traffic onto the new bridge on SR-1 (US-431) over Cornhouse Creek.

ALDOT now begins the next phase of removing the old bridge and completing the remaining work items in the $4.16 million contract.

ALDOT shifted traffic onto the newly built bridge on SR-1 (US-431) over Cornhouse Creek on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Motorists should continue to observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs and use extreme caution in this area.

The road improvement job is on time to wrap up later this summer.

ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this maintenance operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
