Resurfacing on SR-20 from Hillsboro to Courtland to start

A recently paved road with a pair of signs posted on the shoulder indicating it is eastbound State Route 20 and also US Alternate 72.
Last year, SR-20 was resurfaced from the Morgan County Line to about a half mile west of the location pictured, near Main Street in Hillsboro. Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will resurface the next five miles to the west, between Courtland and Hillsboro, starting next week.

A $1.9 million resurfacing project on SR-20 in Lawrence County will begin Monday, April 6, weather permitting.

Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will mill, resurface and stripe more than five miles of the divided four-lane highway from west of Kirby Road in Hillsboro to SR-33 in Courtland.

Expect lane closures

Motorists should expect daily single-lane closures in either direction. For real-time traffic and road condition information, visit ALGOtraffic.com or download the ALGO Traffic app.

ALDOT anticipates completion this summer.

Last year, contractor Wiregrass Construction resurfaced 5.5 miles of SR-20 from the Morgan County line to just east of the current project.
