ALDOT will hold in-person and online public involvement meetings to gather input on potential improvements to SR-35 in Fort Payne.

The feedback will become part of a planning and environmental linkage (PEL) study. ALDOT initiated the PEL study after the City of Fort Payne received funding through a federal grant.

In-person meeting

ALDOT will hold the in-person meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Wills Valley Recreation Center, 4220 Godfrey Ave. NE Fort Payne, AL 35967.

The informal, open-house meeting will allow attendees to ask questions and share comments. The meeting will not include a formal presentation.

Online public involvement

Online public involvement begins today at www.aldotinvolved.com. Members of the public can review information about the study and a map showing preliminary alternative alignments for SR-35, which will also be available at the in-person meeting.

Any written comments submitted will become part of the official record. Comments may be sent to fortpayne-PEL@dot.state.al.us. Please submit comments by Friday, June 12, 2026.
