ALDOT prepares for icy roads in North Alabama

Patching on I-65 to continue Friday and Saturday

Part of I-59 in Etowah, DeKalb counties to close Friday for repairs

The southbound I-59 roadway, left, is undergoing reconstruction, while the northbound roadway is carrying traffic in both directions, separated by a system of temporary concrete barriers.

About 17 miles of I-59 in northern Etowah County and southern DeKalb County will close Friday, Dec. 19, for repairs.

A significant segment of the southbound roadway between Reece City and Collinsville is being reconstructed by contractor Vulcan Materials. During the project, both directions of traffic have been sharing the northbound roadway.
