ALDOT announces no temporary lane closures for holiday travel

With peak holiday travel season underway, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will have no temporary lane closures on interstate routes from Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025 at noon until Friday, Dec. 26, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. and from Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025 at noon until Friday, January 2, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

The intersection of SR-67 and Danville Road will serve as the midpoint of the five-mile project. The contractor will resurface SR-67 from US-31 to Danville Road before resurfacing from Danville Road to SR-24.

Nighttime resurfacing of SR-67/Beltline Road in Decatur will begin the evening of Sunday, June 8, weather permitting.

Grayson Carter and Son, the contractor on the $3.3 million project, will resurface nearly five miles of SR-67 from US-31/Sixth Avenue Southeast to SR-24/Gordon Terry Parkway.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to close the Welcome Center on I-20 westbound near Milepost 213 the morning of June 9th . 

The Welcome Center is contracted for renovation, addition, new lighting, and resurfacing.  The Welcome Center will remain closed until completion, which is estimated to be February 2027.
