ALDOT preparing for record year of Alabama airport investment

The Alabama Department of Transportation’s (ALDOT) Aeronautics Bureau is preparing for another record year of investment in Alabama’s airport system. Recently, ALDOT met with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airports District Office in Jackson, Mississippi, to begin coordinating fiscal year 2027 airport projects and funding priorities between the two agencies.

Last year, SR-20 was resurfaced from the Morgan County Line to about a half mile west of the location pictured, near Main Street in Hillsboro. Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will resurface the next five miles to the west, between Courtland and Hillsboro, starting next week.

A $1.9 million resurfacing project on SR-20 in Lawrence County will begin Monday, April 6, weather permitting.

Grayson Carter and Son Contracting will mill, resurface and stripe more than five miles of the divided four-lane highway from west of Kirby Road in Hillsboro to SR-33 in Courtland.
