Local high school students ages 15,16 and 17 prepare for life saving driving lessons.

More than 150 high school students from Mobile and Baldwin counties gathered at Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette last week for the UrKeys2Drv Teen Driving Safety Summit.

The day brought together students, safety experts and first responders for interactive activities and hands-on lessons about safe driving.

This week, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and its contractors reached a major milestone on the new Intracoastal Waterway Bridge in Gulf Shores. Crews placed the final steel girders across the waterway, marking a big structural and visual step toward completion. The $52 million bridge project remains on track to open by summer 2026.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will begin a resurfacing project on a portion of US-98 in Baldwin County on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The $3.8 million project will improve the roadway from SR-104 east to CR-32. Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc. is the contractor.

Geotechnical work began today on US-98 at Fly Creek

Starting today, July 21, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is starting a short-term geotechnical investigation along US-98 at Fly Creek in Fairhope. This work is an important step in the engineering planning and design of new bridges that will replace the current culvert structure.
