US-431 railroad work in Gadsden postponed to later this week

The railroad crossing on US-431 near the former Goodyear plant in Gadsden will undergo more than $1 million in upgrades when OmniTRAX begins work later this week.

Work to improve the US-431 railroad crossing near the former Goodyear plant in Gadsden, originally scheduled to start Wednesday, has been postponed until later this week. OmniTRAX, operator of the Alabama & Tennessee River Railway, anticipates a delay of one or two days.

Fort Payne rail crossing to remain closed Wednesday

A detour map provided by Norfolk Southern shows rerouting of traffic during the railroad crossing closure on SR-35 near US-11 in Fort Payne.

Norfolk Southern closed the railroad crossing on SR-35/Fifth Avenue in Fort Payne this morning for track repairs and improvements. The closure between US-11/Gault Avenue and Godfrey Avenue is expected to extend into Wednesday afternoon.
