Resurfacing project on I-59 in Gadsden to start Sunday night

I-59 just south of SR-77 in Gadsden. Work will begin Sunday evening to resurface 8.5 miles of the corridor in Etowah County.

A major resurfacing project on I-59 in the Gadsden area will start the evening of Sunday, Feb. 23, weather permitting. ALDOT advises motorists to expect lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.

ALDOT proposes signal for US-72 at Cambridge Lane

ALDOT proposes installing a signal and adding turn lanes on US-72 at Cambridge Lane.

Four weeks remain to participate in online public involvement for an upcoming intersection safety project on US-72 in Limestone County.

ALDOT proposes to improve US-72 at Cambridge Lane in Athens by installing a traffic signal and constructing turn lanes.

Bids opened for I-59 southbound reconstruction in DeKalb, Etowah counties

A segment of I-59 near Hammondville is undergoing reconstruction. While contractors removed and replace the pavement on one roadway, traffic is shifted to the inside of the opposing roadway via crossovers like the one visible at center.

The Alabama Department of Transportation opened bids last week for a project to reconstruct nearly 11 miles of I-59 southbound between Collinsville and Reece City.

Left turns from Memorial Parkway to Mastin Lake Road to be closed for several months
