Since 2017, the Alabama Department of Transportation has used the highly successful ALDOT Leadership Academy to help train and develop the next generation of transportation leaders within ALDOT. This April, 26 current and future ALDOT leaders graduated ready to help elevate not only their careers but the department as a whole.

A Strong Curriculum for Stronger Leaders

With a curriculum that is frequently updated to ensure it provides the most valuable learning experience possible for participants, the ALDOT Leadership Academy seeks to provide program participants the skills, tools, and network to successfully navigate their careers and be leaders in their places of business, communities, and professional organizations of choice. This includes:

  • Skills and Tools: The program focuses on the essential skills and tools needed to be an effective leader, helping participants excel in their careers.
  • Dual Instruction: Participants benefit from the combined expertise of Troy University leadership faculty and experienced ALDOT leaders, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical insights.

Investing in Our People

This was ALDOT’s ninth class of Leadership Academy participants. These 26 high-potential employees from across ALDOT participated in discussions, team-building exercises, and workshops, all designed to refine their leadership skills. The Academy was hosted at the beautiful 4-H Center in Columbiana, AL. The next Leadership Academy is scheduled to begin this September at Lake Guntersville State Park.
