ALDOT seeks public input for duo of I-59 bridge replacement jobs in St Clair County

ALDOT is proposing to replace two sets of bridges on I-59 in St Clair County.

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing bridge replacements on I-59 over both Big Canoe Creek and Muckleroy Creek in St Clair County.

Both sets of spans were built in the 1960’s and their deterioration and narrow width require replacement.

The I-59 bridges over Big Canoe Creek are scheduled for replacement in 2027.

SR-205 bridge replacement to close road, detour traffic

In addition to replacing the bridge, the $4.9 million project will realign SR-205 approaching the bridge.

Part of SR-205 in Etowah County will close for about a year during replacement of a 102-year-old bridge over the Alabama & Tennessee River Railway (ATN).

ALDOT anticipates the closure starting Monday, Aug. 3, weather permitting.

The $4.9 million project with contractor Rogers Group will also realign SR-205 and Old Guntersville Gadsden Road.

Mitchell Boulevard northbound bridge deck poured

Miller & Miller poured concrete for the northbound US-43/US-72/Mitchell Boulevard bridge deck early Tuesday.

The $7.2 million replacement of the US-43/US-72/Mitchell Boulevard bridge over SR-20 in Florence reached a milestone this week when contractor Miller & Miller poured concrete for the northbound bridge deck early Tuesday.
