Making roads safer to drive is the Alabama Department of Transportation’s mission as it continues with its Federal-aid Maintenance Resurfacing Program statewide. Using ALDOT’s Pavement Preservation Policy, Area employees evaluate the condition of pavement near them and make recommendations to the ALDOT Deputy Director of Operations who approves projects for each fiscal year.

ALDOT’s Southwest Region Fiscal Year 2024 resurfacing program will total approximately $40 million dollars. This total covers seven to eight projects with a total of 47 miles in the Mobile area, and eight to nine projects in the Grove Hill area totaling 35 miles.

Mobile Area projects will include Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia and Conecuh counties.

Grove Hill projects will include Clarke, Choctaw, Marengo, Wilcox and Monroe counties.
