Fort Payne rail crossing to remain closed Wednesday

Norfolk Southern closed the railroad crossing on SR-35/Fifth Avenue in Fort Payne this morning for track repairs and improvements. The closure between US-11/Gault Avenue and Godfrey Avenue is expected to extend into Wednesday afternoon.

  • From US-11, traffic bound for SR-35 is detoured to First Street to Godfrey Avenue.
  • From SR-35, traffic bound for US-11 is detoured to Godfrey Avenue to First Street.

The City of Fort Payne gave permission for traffic to be rerouted to city streets.
