Multiple bridge paintings across the Wiregrass begin today

Apr 24

The Alabama Department of Transportation will be performing maintenance bridge paintings on four bridges across three counties in the Wiregrass area beginning today, April 24, 2024.

The contractor will begin work on the US-84 west and eastbound bridges over Claybank Creek in Dale County, west of SR-37. The contractor will be at this location for approximately four to five months.

The other bridges to be painted will be on SR-54 over Flat Creek in Geneva County, east of Pigeon Pond Road, and SR-10 over Pea River in Pike County, west of Shelby Jackson Road.

Travelers should plan accordingly for possible delays as lane closures are possible.  Travelers should also remain mindful of people and equipment in the work zones.

The approximately $624,000 project was awarded to Southern Coatings of Tarpon Springs, LLC, out of Tarpon Springs, Fla., who had the lowest bid that met the project requirements.  The project in its entirety is expected to be complete in early 2025.
