Work to improve the US-431 railroad crossing near the former Goodyear plant in Gadsden will begin at 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

OmniTRAX, operator of the Alabama & Tennessee River Railway, originally planned to begin work today. The ALDOT-administered project will reconstruct the track crossing surface with precast concrete panels and upgrade the railroad signals at a cost of more than $1 million. Once begun, the work will take about 10 days, weather permitting.
