Work to improve the US-431 railroad crossing near the former Goodyear plant in Gadsden, originally scheduled to start Wednesday, has been postponed until later this week. OmniTRAX, operator of the Alabama & Tennessee River Railway, anticipates a delay of one or two days.

The ALDOT-administered project will reconstruct the track crossing surface with precast concrete panels and upgrade the railroad signals at a cost of more than $1 million. Once begun, the work will take about 10 days.
