I-59 reconstruction project enters second phase

The first phase of the I-59 reconstruction project included closure of the northbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 239, but there are no interchanges within the segment to be reconstructed in the second phase.

Another four-mile segment of I-59 northbound in DeKalb County will close for reconstruction as a $41 million project enters its second phase.

RCUT planned for US-431 at Buck Island Drive

ALDOT will convert US-431 at Buck Island Drive to an RCUT intersection in early 2026.

ALDOT will convert the intersection of US-431 and Buck Island Drive in Guntersville to a Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) intersection to improve safety.

ALDOT to resurface stretch of US-82 in western Tuscaloosa County

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) plans to resurface and perform access management along a stretch of US-82 from near Echola Road to near Buhl Cut-off Road in western Tuscaloosa County to improve mobility and safety.

New SR-247 bridge opened to traffic

The new SR-247 bridge over Little Bear Creek in Franklin County opened to traffic today.

The new SR-247 bridge over Little Bear Creek northeast of Red Bay in Franklin County opened to traffic today.

Riley Bridge Company substantially completed the $3.3 million project in slightly more than a year. The project included demolition of a 1963 bridge and construction of a wider, safer bridge in its place.

ALDOT suspends temporary lane closures on interstates over Thanksgiving holiday

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will have no temporary lane closures on interstate routes during the Thanksgiving holiday. Lane closures will be suspended from Wednesday, Nov. 26 at noon through Sunday, Nov. 30 at 11:59 p.m.

The suspension is to help reduce traffic congestion and improve safety with more people traveling during the holiday….
